Project C.A.R.E. recently hosted a Beauty Day For Seniors at the Morning Pointe
of Chattanooga Assisted Living Facility. Ansley Reagan, Miss Cleveland 2006, is
the program's founder. She enlisted the help of students from the Southern
Beauty Academy, which is located in Ringgold, to provide manicures, facials and
makeovers for the residents. According to Ganet Tate, an instructor at Southern
Beauty Academy, their students are very involved in giving back to the
community in the Ringgold and Chattanooga area. The students were excited to
provide beauty services to our senior residents. Sarah Dobbs, Activity Director
for Morning Pointe, said that the residents had been looking forward to the
event and that it was a successful day that was enjoyed by all!!
Project C.A.R.E. (Community Alliance for Reaching the Elderly) is an
organization dedicated to helping enhance the quality of life for elderly
people through a variety of volunteer-based initiatives at the community level.
The mission of the program is to establish community alliances that will
promote interaction with the elderly, and to raise awareness for elderly
citizens living in unhealthy conditions or that simply have no family support.
In addition to overseeing the Project C.A.R.E. programs, Miss Reagan has been a
volunteer guardian for an elderly woman through the Southeastern Tennessee Area
Agency on Aging and Disability's Volunteer Guarding Program for the past two
years.
